kate O'phalenKate had the good fortune of spending much of her childhood surrounded by creativity and ambition at The Bell Center for Music and the Arts in Dover, N.H., a music and arts school co-founded by her mother. There she took lessons and classes in everything from classical voice training to Chinese calligraphy to kite-making, and one summer, an unfortunate (or fortunate!) shortage of Oompa Loompas in the Bell Center's production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" launched Kate's acting career at the tender age of six.

At thirteen, Kate's family moved across the country to Florida, and it didn't take long before Kate had immersed herself in several choruses, high school productions, and community theatre, often juggling so much performing that rehearsals actually overlapped. She also squeezed in some college classes, and managed to graduate high school with an Associate in Arts degree from Brevard Community College, as well.

Ever since a trip to New York City with her mother that took place shortly after her starring turn as Oompa Loompa #11, Kate knew she wanted to live in New York, so she headed up north to attend Hofstra University. Four years at Hofstra landed her both an incredible husband, and two degrees – a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts and a B.A. in Political Science, with minors in English and European Studies, and an Honors College diploma.

She now lives in Midtown Manhattan with her Casting Director husband, Dan, and two awesome doggie children, Stella the yorkie and Duncan the cavalier. She has been quite busy since moving to the city, working in highly respected regional theatre, shooting indie films that have ended up in dozens of festivals, working on national promos that have acquaintances screaming "I saw you on TV!!", being a part of hilarious web series episodes, and recently earning both her Equity card and SAG-AFTRA eligibility.

IMG 0535 2In addition to being a passionate and dedicated actress, Kate is also a well-known blogger. She chronicled her wedding as "Miss Star" for one of the largest wedding blogs in the world, Weddingbee.com, and both her and her husband are frequently recognized on the street for it. She also founded, blogs for, and is Editor-in-Chief of GreenRoomBlog.com, a popular blog about what it takes to make it in showbiz. Kate also runs Midtown Bed 'n Biscuit, a doggy bed 'n breakfast, and gets to play with tiny, little dogs all day. On top of her ambitious work schedule, Kate also loves adventure kayaking with her Mom, practicing yoga in Bryant Park, traveling with her husband, snuggling with her baby sisters, seeking out new items of polka dot clothing, and cooking and baking for everyone she knows.
